Dear A-Town 276 Community,
Due to the uncertainty of weather conditions during the school year, the Abingdon-Avon School District has developed both 1 and 2 hour delayed start schedules. Much time, discussion, and effort is taken when considering the closing or delaying of school due to conditions beyond the control of the school district. We know you understand that safety (of our students and staff) is first and foremost in the decision making process. Additionally, we appreciate your overwhelming support (93%) of the delayed start concept during registration.
Delayed starts will be based on forecast information and will be announced the night before being implemented to allow parents to plan properly. Closing are often called in the mornings based on road conditions and updated weather conditions.
Information regarding school delays, closings or early dismissal days will be sent out through our school messenger systems. We recommend that you take the following steps before winter: Download the Abingdon-Avon 276 App from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store (accept notifications during install), make sure your email address and phone number are up-to-date in Skyward, and follow the district on Facebook, Twitter, and on the district’s website (www.atown276.net). App notifications are the quickest way to be notified of district schedule changes.
Bus pick-up on a 1 or 2 hour delayed start schedule will occur 1 or 2 hours later than a regular school day at the same locations. Breakfast will be available during delayed starts once students arrive.
Start Times and Arrival Times for each building are below
