STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics. STEM projects allow students to create and build problem-solving skills in a meaningful way. Our goal is to prepare students for a career in the 21st century workplace, so our teachers are creating more and more STEM learning opportunities for our them.
Our second graders at AES recently completed a STEM activity to solve a problem they were having in their classroom. They were asked to create a product to keep crayons from rolling off of the table and keep their crayons organized. They had a budget and had to work together to decide what building supplies to use. They then had to construct their project and see if it worked. They also had to describe to the class how they made it and how it worked! They did a GREAT job! Check out the pictures to below to see the process and the final results.
