AES Cares is a service project organization at Avon Elementary school. The idea this year came from third grader Lyndie Snyder during her campaign for student council. She wanted to do something to make a difference with animals at the local Humane Society.
For two weeks this month, students from each class at the elementary brought in supplies for the Fulton County Humane Society. There was a contest and the winning class would receive an ice cream party. Prek, kindergarten, and second donated their supplies to first and fifth grades. The totals were 1st-364; 3rd-55; 4th-33; and 5th-364. First and fifth tied to win ice cream parties after Spring Break. There were so many supplies that it was decided they should be donated to Fulton and Knox County Humane Societies.
Thanks to everyone who donated, the staff who helped get all the donations in Ms. Widger and Mrs. Barnes vehicles for them to take to Knox and Fulton County Human Societies! Photo credits to Ms. Widger and Karen Johnston (a volunteer at the FCHS.)

Round 2 for Global March Book Madness starts today and ends Friday! Who will move to the next round?
It has been stated from IDPH and the CDC that temperature checks are no longer needed. Our Board of Education has approved that to become our daily practice. Starting today, Thursday, March 11th, 2021, we will no longer be completing temperature checks. Bus monitors and door monitors will continue to check for badges. Please make sure your child(ren) wears their lanyard and symptoms badge everyday as an indication that you, their parent, is certifying that your child(ren) does not have any of the listed symptoms. We will issue temporary badges and lanyards to those students who have lost the one that was issued earlier in the school year. IDPH has also put into writing new guidelines for symptoms of COVID. Congestion, runny nose, and abdominal pain have been removed from the list of symptoms. As always if your child is feeling ill, please do not send him/her to school.
In light of the Board of Education's decision to continue with the current 12:30 dismissal for the rest of the school year, student who are currently remote learners will be given the option to return to school on Monday, March 8 by calling AES at 465-3851 or AAMS at 465-3621 and letting Mrs. Batson or Mrs. Bryan know. Otherwise remote learners' next option for return will be Tuesday, April 6 after Spring Break.
Check out the amazing Women’s History month bulletin board created by our own Mrs. Widger!
Picture day for the Avon Campus (all grade levels Pre-k through 8th) has been rescheduled for March 9th. Remote students can come to the AES building between 1-3 to have their pictures taken.

❄️🥶Due to changing road conditions overnight - D276 will implement a Remote Learning day for Tuesday. There will be no in-person instruction on 2/16. Remote instruction will mirror the in-person schedule. Full Remote will take place as normal in the afternoon.
D276 Remote Students wishing to return to In-person Learning for the third trimester (starting on Feb. 22) may do so by notifying their building principal prior to the end of the day on February 18, 2021. After the 18th, Remote students may only return to in-person on the first Monday of each month, as is the current model. If you have interest in returning to in-person, the start of the 3rd trimester is a perfect time.
While not as we want it - 🏀 is back.
